FreightScan Expands into New, Larger Offices
- New Location Provides Integrated Headquarters and R&D Operations -
Carlsbad, California, February 9, 2009 – FreightScan, LLC, a leader in the development and deployment of innovative technology solutions for the freight and logistics industry, has moved from Solana Beach, California up the coast to Carlsbad, California in order to facilitate its rapid growth.
"The move to a new office was prompted by our need for a larger facility that would combine our headquarters with engineering, integrating our executive team with product development and deployment in the same building,” said André Johnson, Chief Executive Officer for FreightScan. “The year ahead will see a global roll-out of FreightScan’s automated dimensioning systems, as well as continued introduction of new products to serve the transportation industry. The new facility will enable our team to accelerate these efforts and deliver increasing value to our customers."
FreightScan is the cargo industry's most advanced provider of automated dimensioning systems, and has collected data demonstrating the ability for cargo facilities to increase profits by adopting a standardized process for capturing accurate dimensions of freight. The company has enjoyed rapid growth in the previous year, opening new strategic partnerships in the United Kingdom, Asia and India. It has also added to its staff some of the top engineering and sales personnel in the air cargo and related industries, and has positioned itself for increased growth with its new and integrated office operation.
Following the launch of its FS100 automated dimensioning system for cargo scanning in October 2007, FreightScan debuted a remote bar code scanning unit for the FS100 in January 2008, and announced the world's first forklift-mounted scanning unit, the FL1000, in October 2008. It later introduced CargoVizion™, the only cargo screening solution that detects and locates potential threat objects and materials.
Recently, FreightScan released data collected from 27 onsite evaluations of its FS100 automated dimensioning system in the U.S., Latin America, Europe, the United Kingdom and Asia in 2008 that indicated automated dimensioning resulted in an average increase of $1.4 million in potential additional revenue from dimensional weight shipments per cargo facility, per year. In addition, manpower savings from using an automated dimensioning system versus manual dimming were an average of 10 hours per day, and the average shipment was processed 6.5 minutes faster. The results showed significantly increased efficiencies within cargo facilities that generated long-term returns on investments and increased profit margins for users that took part in the evaluations of the automated dimensioning of cargo.
"The results of these dynamic new technology solutions that are available for the accurate measurement and calculation of dimensional weight demonstrated tremendous opportunities to greatly improve profits for cargo facilities,” said Johnson. “We anticipate a more rapid movement toward the use of these value-added dimensioning systems in 2009 and beyond, and feel this relocation and integration of our facilities will greatly enhance our ability to serve customers around the world as we continue to staff up and add new features and products."
