Supply chain issues 'can be teased out'

Analysis of carbon hotspots can tease out supply chain issues, it is claimed.
Supply chain issues can be identified by using analysis of "carbon hotspots" to "tease out" inefficiencies, according to a new study.
Oracle's Sustainable Performance Management builds on its previous work on supply chain issues to determine what factors are currently influencing sustainability in British businesses.
Commissioned by The Future Laboratory, the latest work continues from 2008's study The Shape of Tomorrow's Supply Chain, Oracle says.
It claims that hot spots in supply chains can be assessed to determine where inefficiencies are being introduced.
Meanwhile, some 62 per cent of respondents to a survey conducted as part of the research say they would like their staff to make more sustainable operational decisions.
In 2008, Oracle proposed a three-tiered approach to supply chains in order to put greener procurement and logistics into effect.
These tiers ranged from "the basics" - such as switching lights off - through adjustments to operations across the board and up to a global approach to sustainability based on scientific principles.
