Supply chain plans for the coming year could require a "leap of faith".
Supply chain plans for the coming year may need more of a "leap of faith" than is commonly the case, reports Manufacturing & Logistics IT.
The supply chain magazine has printed the views of John Brockwell, leader of the global supply chain management practice in the global trade services business at JPMorgan.
He explains that supply chain plans typically follow on year by year, with any "deltas" - positive or negative budgetary allocations - clarified based on market conditions.
But with June and July the peak times for financial planning to take place, companies face "a whole new reality" when making their preparations for 2010.
As a result, Mr Brockwell writes for the supply chain magazine of the need for a "leap of faith" as companies decide whether to anticipate a single route for the future economy or plan multiple procedures to account for the different potential outcomes in the coming months.
Manufacturing & Logistics IT recently warned that logistics managers could face prosecution under the Health and Safety Offences Act 2008 following the revelation that around a third of road crashes involve work vehicles.
