Pantos Logistics: Bucking the Trend
Pantos Logistics UK, which only entered the UK logistics market 5 years ago, is making a significant impact despite the current economic downturn, and has set its sights on becoming a top-ten global logistics organization by 2010.
The company offers multimodal logistics services, together with modern warehousing and state-of-the-art IT systems, and has blue-chip customers across many commercial and industrial sectors. The company began operations in Korea, in 1977, serving local businesses and their airfreight requirements.
Since then, it has become the largest Korean-owned logistics organization, and has developed a global network of offices throughout the world, latterly entering the South American and Australian markets. The company first entered Europe on the success of its Asian business and the global demands of its customers. It has opened ten offices across Europe, which now collectively generates a turnover of close to $100 million. In 2008, the group's combined annual turnover is projected to top $2 billion, with global TEU movements in excess of 1.3 million.
Pantos Logistics European President Hyun Que Park says: “We continue to monitor economic developments closely, but we see the present situation more as an opportunity than a threat and are well placed to grow in supporting the supply chain needs of our customers with our diverse range of products and services. Globally, we have developed a number of initiatives by working closely with our suppliers, which enables us to offer a specialist service to a wide range of industrial sectors that includes Electronics, Hi-Tech, Retail, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing, Automotive, Heavy Industry and Chemicals.
"To support the supply chain requirements of these sectors, we have developed a state-of-the art IT system, branded ‘Single Window,’ which gives visibility to customers of more than 80 million items located across the Pantos network whilst enabling them to track shipments and place orders through the same portal. Essential to our success is our work ethic, which is to strive to become a vital part of our customers’ supply chain operations; and, in effect, an ‘integrated extension’ to their businesses. To do this we have to understand their business and its dynamics and deliver the highest levels of service consistently. We feel that our new motto, Visible – Intelligent Solutions, encapsulates this, engaging both systems and people in the process.”
