Wassermann successfully implements SAP for Melitta Kaffee GmbH
Within six months the Munich-based Wassermann AG has completed a streamlined APS solution for Melitta Kaffee GmbH in Bremen on time. From the shipping of the raw coffee in the countries of origin to the storage of the packaged roasted coffee at the premises of the logistics provider - by integrating SAP and the APS solution wayRTS (Real Time Simulation) and wayMES (Enterprise Frontend) Melitta now has full transparency across its entire supply chain.
In a comprehensive supply chain project conducted jointly with Wassermann, Melitta Kaffee - one of the leading brands in the German coffee market - has optimized its processes and IT systems for procurement, production and distribution logistics. Within the six-month timeframe for the project, Wassermann consultants modelled the material and information flow in a harmonized and streamlined IT solution on the basis of SAP and wayRTS. From the shipping of the raw coffee in containers in the country of origin via the different processes in the manufacturing of roasted coffee and the final storage of the finished product at the premises of the logistics provider: Now Melitta can profit from improved transparency and security of optimized stock levels throughout the entire value added process.
One of the project aims was to establish a centralized planning and scheduling of the supply chain and to equip it with the best-in-class IT tools. In the APS system wayRTS planners achieve complete transparency and control over the purchasing, shipping and manufacturing processes related to orders and inventory as well as to the usage of resources. Transparency is attained by graphic visualization of the entire business process and by powerful filter possibilities. With its ability to capture all supply chain processes in real-time, wayRTS supports the users effectively in quickly identifying and solving planning conflicts.
wayMES provides essential PDA (Production Data Acquisition) functions and is the tool for efficient communication between Melitta's planning department and internal as well as external service providers. On the basis of confirmations collected by wayMES a batch-related and retrograde entering of the relevant components in the SAP system is executed. Wassermann's implementation of wayRTS and wayMES has now effectively reduced the complexity of planning and scheduling.
