Vanderlande
Industries has introduced a new type of shuttle
for its VARIOSTORE HDS high-speed storage
system.
The new shuttle nearly doubles the system’s
storage capacity. It is especially suitable for
highly automated goods-to-man order picking
systems which handle a large number of order
lines per hour.
The company has already sold four projects
incorporating the VARIOSTORE HDS, with a total
of 23 aisles, since its official introduction in
March 2006. Two projects are operational and the
other two are in the planning/installation
phase. Goods-to-man order picking systems
generally have high storage requirements. The
new shuttle has been optimized for this specific
purpose.
VARIOSTORE HDS provides optimum access to
goods in store for a wide range of distribution
processes. The system maximizes productivity by
minimizing manual labour. This makes it ideal
for situations where large numbers of stock
keeping units (SKUs) need to be accessed
frequently.
The system can achieve a throughput capacity
of up to 1000 tote movements per hour per aisle.
The modular and scalable unit allows VARIOSTORE
HDS to be matched to every picking process and
working environment.
In combination with the Vanderlande
Industries picking systems, VARIOSTORE HDS forms
the basis for optimised picking solutions.
VARIOSTORE is part of the company’s standard
automated storage, picking and consolidation
concepts for a complete warehousing and
distribution solution.
VARIOSTORE systems can be used to facilitate
bulk storage, order picking and consolidation
and packing operations in distribution centres.
