Stow Wins ILVA’s Storage Solution Contract

Storage space solution specialists Stow UK took just 4 weeks to install an Adjustable Pallet Racking system at new home furnishing retailer ILVA’s first Regional Distribution Centre (RDC). The system, now integral to the operation of the 650,000 sq ft site in Doncaster (UK), has provided 28,500 pallet locations for the brand’s varied stock profile. Established in Denmark in 1974, ILVA offers a wide range of quality furniture and accessories at affordable prices. It aims to set trends within home décor and provide inspiration for shoppers in an enjoyable shopping environment.

To support its breadth of range ILVA is establishing a network of RDCs with its third party logistics partner, TNT Logistics. Seeking a storage solution supplier that could not only provide the right solution at the right price, but also complete the project within a tight timeframe, TNT awarded the contract to Stow UK. Stow used its extensive experience within the retail sector to create and install the Doncaster racking system, a system that offered enough versatility to accommodate ILVA’s varied stock profile. Working within a tight timeframe and a complex space structure, Stow successfully completed the racking across the centre’s 10 storage chambers.

Simon Robinson at TNT Logistics said of the installation: "Our key requirement was for a cost-effective solution that could be installed in a short time period. Stow provided strong project management and a storage solution that fully met our expectations."

Stow’s Nigel Rudd, commented: “We are delighted to have fulfilled expectations, and to have been involved in such a new and exciting project. Our experience and expertise has enabled us to deliver a service to the standard that both TNT and ILVA require, and we hope to build on this strong relationship in the future.” Based on the success of this project Stow was awarded the contract to install a similar racking in ILVA’s second RDC based in Hull, and also fitted out ILVA’s Thurrock store www.stowuk.com.
