Combating Unfair Delivery Charges

MrCarrier (www.MrCarrier.com), a recently-launched Manchester based courier comparison site, is offering hundreds of rural customers the chance to beat unfair delivery charges. MrCarrier’s unique open bidding auction site gives rural customers the opportunity to save as much as 70% on the price charged to them by normal couriers.
A recent survey conducted by the Citizen’s Advice Bureau Scotland discovered that 84% of 900 rural respondents had been refused delivery because of their location; and that those who had received deliveries were being charged as much as 400% of the normal rates charged by an average UK courier company.
MrCarrier, which provides a load booking service for member drivers based in all parts of the UK, is confident that it can reduce courier charges to remote and rural areas by the same 70% average cut it has been offering to all UK locations since its successful startup in October 2011.
Customers using the MrCarrier.com site upload the details of their delivery: what it is, when they would like it delivered by and where it is going. MrCarrier member drivers then bid for the load, detailing both total cost and delivery time. Customers choose the bid that suits them best.
MrCarrier’s flexible service ensures that customers in rural areas have small businesses and individual drivers bidding for their loads no matter what they are, or where they are going. Member drivers and companies of MrCarrier.com are commonly used as eBay couriers; house movers; and transporters of furniture. Small businesses are making use of MCarrier.com to send out customer orders, so they don’t have to worry about the expense of running a delivery fleet of their own.
Partnered with Trees for Cities (an environmental charity that plants trees in urban environments lacking green spaces), MrCarrier is dedicated to providing the greenest online courier service in the UK. The MrCarrier business model further offsets its environmental impact. Member drivers and companies with partially filled lorries, or returning empty lorries, are keen to bid cheaply for MrCarrier customer loads to help cover their fuel costs..
MrCarrier’s twin devotion to equality of pricing and environmental responsibility means customers in rural areas can receive standard deliveries, eBay purchases and even special or complicated deliveries without having to pay the earth. In just two short months the company has already benefited small haulage companies and independent drivers (by providing a place where they can bid competitively for the work they need to fill their lorries); disenfranchised rural dwellers who have been crying out for fairly priced delivery services; and the planet too.
