Patent Award for Innovative Fleet Safety Solution

SmartDrive Systems, a leader in fleet safety and operational efficiency, has announced that the company has been awarded a patent for “Memory Management in Event Recording System“ for components in its industry leading safety and eco-driving solution. SmartDrive uses a broad range of motion and GPS sensors to detect risky driving behaviour, such as sudden stops, hard cornering, aggressive acceleration and excessive speed. This delivers comprehensive video and vehicle event information for review by SmartDrive vehicle safety experts who evaluate more than 50 unsafe driving behaviours.

Fleets across industries then use this insight and analysis to improve safe driving performance and reduce fuel consumption. The company was also recently honoured with the prestigious "Fleet Safety Product Award" at the UK 2011 Brake Fleet Safety Forum Awards for Excellence. Another honour, the "Safe Vehicles Award" went to online grocery retailer Ocado, a long-time SmartDrive customer. This patent award is a strong recognition of the fundamental innovations that SmartDrive brings to safety- and fuel-conscious fleets,” noted SmartDrive President Jason Palmer. The patent was awarded in the UK, as No. 2447184.
