Prodcontract Deploys WM and Voice
Prodcontract, the Russian frozen meat and meat by-products supplier, has successfully deployed Infor SCM Warehouse Management (WM). The new system will help the company to optimize operations in its 7000 m2 deep-freeze warehouse at -18°С, improving resource utilization and inventory accuracy. ZAO Prodcontract delivers meat from all over Russia to some of the largest meat processing plants in Moscow and has strong relationships with the largest meat producers in Europe, South and North America, as well as large Russian suppliers.
Prodcontract searched for a warehouse management system to increase efficiency and resource utilization. In particular, the company planned to streamline and balance distribution, picking and storage processing with host-based weight tracking at goods receipt and release. The solution enables Prodcontract to store and keep track of 6000 pallets, to minimize the number of staff loading and unloading equipment in the warehouse as well as to manage material flows in excess of 360 tons daily. The solution also increases goods receipt and release accuracy, enabling the company to manage the incoming and outgoing goods flow within a 12-hour shift. As Prodcontract needed to increase productivity in the warehouse and ensure staff safety, despite the difficult work environment of -18°С, the company decided to make use of voice technologies. Infor’s developers re-designed a number of standard functions, such as weight logging during goods receipt and release, and implemented Vocollect, an innovative voice technology, improving speed and quality of material handling, picking, stacking and truck loading. The Vocollect voice solution is fully integrated in the business process and works together with Infor WM.
A Prodcontract spokesman said: "Infor SCM WM helps us to address a number of key challenges, including increasing employee productivity and improving warehouse business processes with voice technologies and innovative technical solutions. The project team efficiently managed the solution’s integration with voice technologies, host system and weighing equipment. Bespoke functionality was designed to address all project requirements related to improving goods receipt and release accuracy as well as minimizing the number of warehouse staff and loading equipment in use.”
