DHL extends spare parts logistics contract with Swedish telecommunications group Telia
DHL Supply Chain has been awarded a two-year contract extension with Swedish telecommunications company Telia to handle its national spare parts logistics. DHL continues to be responsible for the time-critical handling of spare parts needed for repairs and maintenance of the Telia's fixed broadband networks.
"DHL Supply Chain meets the high quality demands from Telia on time-critical deliveries. Over the years, we have refined the spare parts logistics, including a new customized web solution that supports the entire supply chain," said Jan Flyckt, Senior Commercial Manager at DHL Supply Chain Sweden.
DHL Supply Chain will also handle customer-placed equipment such as switches and routers, and manage the administration and returns management processes to the repair shops.
Handling and logistics of spare parts requires specialist expertise as the products are both valuable and sensitive. Stock level management and distribution are handled from DHL's logistics center in Rosersberg, north of Stockholm, and from 17 local depots for same-day deliveries across the country. The logistics center in Rosersberg is designed for Electro Static Discharge (ESD) management that protects the sensitive spare parts from damage and electrostatic discharge.
